This policy describes the current version of Lighter, developed by Ryno Design, and this website.
Your writing stays on your device
Lighter does not send your writing to Ryno Design. It does not require an account and contains no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics. Held thoughts, preferences, and reflection counts are stored locally.
Saving, releasing, and backups
Hold for later saves a thought in Review. Unsaved writing is temporary and may be lost when the app closes. Releasing removes a thought from the app, with a brief Undo opportunity while the app remains open. Reflection counts do not contain your writing and can be cleared separately.
Lighter does not currently sync thoughts between devices. Device or computer backups may include saved app data, depending on your settings. Releasing a thought does not remove it from an existing backup. Ryno Design cannot access or erase your backups.
Keyboard, copying, and app lock
Your keyboard and dictation features follow their providers’ policies and your device settings. Choosing Copy places the selected writing on your device’s clipboard. Optional app locking uses Apple’s authentication features; Lighter does not receive your biometric data or device passcode.
Optional tips
Apple processes tips through the App Store. Lighter receives transaction information needed to confirm a purchase, not your payment-card details. Your writing is not included with a tip.
When you contact support
If you email Ryno Design, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use that information to respond and address your request. Email is handled by our mail providers, currently Porkbun forwarding and Microsoft Outlook. Please avoid including private thoughts in support messages. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing us.
This website
This site does not include advertising or analytics scripts. Its hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process technical information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver and secure the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
